Daily Itinerary
Day 1 Day 1 - Arrive in Guadalajara
Depart home and arrive in Guadalajara where your local guide will meet you. Transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 Day 2 - Guadalajara, Zapopan & Tlaquepaque
This morning drive to Our Lady of Zapopan for Mass and then enjoy a tour of Tlaquepaque and the downtown area of Guadalajara. See the Cathedral, Plaza Tapatia, and many other interesting sites and historical buildings connected with the colonial era. Return to your hotel in Guadalajara.
Day 3 Day 3 - San Juan De Los Lagos & Cristo Rey
Travel to San Juan De Los Lagos to visit the main Cathedral. Continue to Cerro Del Cubilete to see the impressive statue of Christ the King. Your journey today ends in Guanajuato which was founded in 1559 and contains some of Mexico’s grandest colonial churches, government buildings, mansions, and theaters. Pipila Monument, set on a hillside overlooking the city, affords a stunning panorama of Guanajuato and the surrounding hills. Spend the night in Guanajuato.
Day 4 Day 4 - Guanajuato, San Miguel De Allende & Queretaro
Today celebrate Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guanajuato. Then travel to San Miguel de Allende, a city that enchants visitors with its cobblestone streets; the inviting Zocalo is framed by a stunning 17th-century Gothic church, centuries-old buildings, and strings of cafes and numerous art galleries. Drive to Queretaro, the lovely, well-preserved colonial city. Visit the center full of markets, museums, churches, and historical monuments commemorating the city’s heroes. Arrive in Mexico City and check in to your hotel.
Day 5 Day 5 – Mexico City & Teotihuacán
Visit the Plaza of the Three Cultures. Celebrate Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe before traveling to Teotihuacán, one of the best-preserved cities in Mexico. Teotihuacán was the most important city in North America, around 500AD when its population was an estimated 200,000 people. We will be amazed by the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon and the mile-long Avenue of the Dead framed by countless monuments and structures.
Day 6 Day 6 - Shrine Of Guadalupe & Mexico City
Today, drive to the impressive complex and one of Mexico’s holiest places. This is where the Virgin of Guadalupe is said to have appeared before a humble Indian named Juan Diego. Visit the New Basilica that houses the sacred image of the Virgin (Tilma). Later, see the Old Basilica, Tepeyac Hill, and the surrounding gardens. Visit the Zocalo, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the National Palace, containing the offices of the presidency and featuring along the walls of its central patio Diego Rivera’s stirring mural. We will stop for lunch and then drive to the festive atmosphere of the floating gardens at Xochimilco Ecological Park for our boat ride. Return to the hotel for our dinner and get ready for the “Folklore Show at the Palace of Fine Arts.”
Day 7 Day 7 - Puebla, Tlaxcala & Ocotlan
Our visit to Puebla reveals a showplace of Spanish colonial architecture, much of it adorned with the beautiful hand-painted Talavera tiles for which the region is famous. Puebla, Mexico’s fourth largest city, is packed with ornate churches. We will visit the Cathedral and Santo Domingo Church with its stunning Rosary Chapel. After lunch, we will continue to Tlaxcala and the Shrine of San Miguel del Milagro, where St. Michael the Archangel appeared to Juan Diego Lazaro and told him of a miraculous spring. Continue to Ocotlan to visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ocotlan, where an apparition of Juan Diego in 1541 was miraculously burned into the trunk of an oak tree. We will walk down to the well and drink the healing water. Return to Mexico City for a farewell dinner and overnight.
